Views of Wirksworth

David Fawcett writes:
Thank you. Your generosity spurred me to some action.

Attached another J Watterson postcard Wirksworth from the North, along with the present view, though again the weather wasnt really clear enough and the trees have grown too much, but you can see the railway on the left and the house and outhouse on the corner of Old Road. I think I would have had to be in mid air in the quarry to get the proper place.

I will be trying to get this shot again too.

Also Wirksworth from Green hill postcard A Barker and Sons, W Peakland series. I cant reach the present day view of this as it is in someones garden.

Taken about 1905 by James Watterson, scan sent by David Fawcett. Watterson was standing near OS ref: SK 287-548, possibly on the bridge taking the railway over Old Lane, looking South. St Mary's Church tower can be faintly seen, the Town Hall tower, the railway and the bridge near the station.
