I was very interested to see the Middleton Football Team photograph on the
Wirksworth website. I know Graham Millward (Trainer) very well and indeed
he lived only a few doors away from me at Middleton. I showed Graham the
photograph and he has managed to name most of the players, with the exception
of the one who is standing next to him which is questioned marked Birks?
I list below the names Graham has been able to add.
Back row left to right.
Graham Millward, Birks?, Brian Wanford, Mick Gill, Malcom Flint,
Brian Huntingdon, Alan Holmes and James Allen (Manager).
Front row left to right kneeling.
Mick Marriot, Keith Gell, Gerald Bates, Geoffrey Allsop, G Wanford.
Graham can also inform us that Middleton played Matlock Swifts in a friendly
and won 5-2. The game was played at Farley. This Middleton team was under 18
and played in Rowsley and District League.
