Thanks for your reply. Hope you had a good holiday, and have cleared the
e-mail backlog. I have contacted my friend, who is not on the net, and he
is happy for any information to be put on your web site.
We are not absolutely certain that the C Pashley on the photo is his maternal
grandfather, but he saw the photo and agrees that there is a family
resemblance, and the time and place are right and we know he was a cricketer.
My friend's name is Brian Tooley.
If it is the right man, all we know is that his name was Charles Pashley
and was probably born in Darley Dale. Brian has a cricket ball with a shield
saying it was awarded to Charles Pashley for the best bowling average by
Darley Dale cricket club. This was several years before the Wirksworth photo.
Charles played for Derbyshire County Cricket Club, but we don't know when or
how successfully. He then moved to Wirksworth where he was a publican. That's
about all Brian knows, but would be interested in any further information,
