    Richard Wall of Wirksworth 1565

    In Dei noe’ Amen .1565. the 6th day of December and in the 8th year of the reign of our sovereigne Lady Elizabeth by the grace of god of Englande France & Irelande Queen Defender of the faith

    I Richard Wall of wirksworth sick in bodye & hoole in soule thankes be to god & of right mynd & memorie do constitute & ordaine & make this my last will & testament in manner & forme folowinge First I bequest my soule to almyghtye god & to all the hoolie companye of Heaven & my bodye to be buryed in the churchyard of wirksworth

    Item I gyve & bequest to my sonne Willm’ Wall one kowe one mare & six sheppe Clothe to make hym a robe wh’ is now in the house

    Item I give & bequest to my sonne John Wall my best mare with my saddle & bridle 2 sheppe & one other mare & twentie shillings in money

    Item I will that when my wife & my daughter Margarett have had ether of them three yds? of the househould stuff wh’ w’ bedinge & in store, yt’ the the rest of the househould stuff wh’ is unbequested to be equallie to be devyded between my sonne Willm’ & John

    Item I gyve & bequest to my daughter margarett one kowe four sheppe & the third pte of the househould stuff & five poundes of woole

    Item I gyve & bequest to my daughter margarett & my sonne Willms wyffe fiftine pounds of woole

    Item I gyve & bequest to my sonne Willms daughters that is to say margarett & agnes everie one of them 2 shepe

    Item I gyve & bequest to everie one of my godchildren a peny My debts payde my funeral cost discharged I gyve all the rest of my goods moveable & unmoveable wh are unbequested to my wyffe & to my three children that is to say willm John & margarett equallie to be devyded amonge them

    Item I will that if thomas wall my sonne do come over that willm my sonne shall give hym 20 s in money coined for the medow

    Item I constitute order & make margarett my wyffe willm my sonne & margarett my daughter my true & lawfull executors of this my last will & testament

    Item I make willm bunting my executor that this my last will & yestament be informed to the glorie of god & right of my soule god be my witness
