Will of Sarah Elizabeth JEPSON 1944

    This is the last Will and Testament of me Sarah Elizabeth Jepson of Black Rocks View Middleton By Wirksworth Derbyshire made this seventeenth day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and forty four

    I hereby revoke all wills made by me at any time heretofore.. I appoint Albert Bertram Farnsworth of Duke Street Middleton By Wirksworth and John Wigley of New Road Middleton By Wirksworth to be my Executors and direct that all my Debts and Funeral Expenses shall be paid as soon as conveniently may be after my decease

    I give and bequeath unto Mr Albert Bertram Farnsworth £25.00 and £25.00 to Mr John Wigley and £20.00 to Mrs Kathleen Flint

    I also give and bequeath to my neice Alice Moore £10.00 and one ring and wearing apparel and the piano

    I also give and bequeath to my neice Audrey Moore £10.00 and one ring, and ten pounds each to my nephews Norman and Arthur Moore.

    I also give and bequeath Twenty Pounds to Mrs Edith Kneebone and my desk to her son Dennis Kneebone

    To my friend Miss Doris Walker I give and bequeath my Tea Service and Cut Glass Sugar Basins and Pickle Jars

    House and all Furniture to be sold by Auction

    After all my debts have been paid including payment for a Black and Grey Marble stone over my grave The Rest of my personal estate to be given to the Trustees of Middleton Mount Zion Methodist Church towards the building of a new Sunday School AND FOR NO OTHER PURPOSE

    Albert Bertram Farnsworth was my Headmaster at Middleton Junior School 1940s He was also cousin to my sister in law Jennifer Flint nee Farnsworth's father James Farnsworth Mr Farnsworth also taught my mother

    Mr John Wigley was a member of Mount Zion Methodist Church when I attended the Chapel in my youth. I began at age 16 years as a choristor in Mount Zion Choir standing alongside Mr Wigley and Mr Arthur Milner his in law

    My mother was Kathleen Flint one of the beneficiaries of the will.. She and my Aunt Doris Walker mother's sister also mentioned, were Trustees at Mount Zion the church built by my Walker family 1905/06 my Grandfather John Walker son of Joseph Walker who founded the firm in the 1840s (Joseph married 3 times his last wife Martha nee Sheldon my Grt Grandmother) being the Master Joiner who built most of the pews choir stalls organ casings and all wood accessories. Grandfather was a Local Preacher in the Circuit his wife Annie nee Cauldwell Sunday School Superintendent.. both founding Trustees of the church previously Trustees at The Jubliee Primitive Methodist Church now the site of a housing estate known as Chapel Croft near Zion Church

    The Moore family mentioned were distant kin of my wife

    The Mrs Kneebone and son Dennis mentioned lived next door to my father's Shop at Middleton Mr Dennis Kneebone was Manager at Middleton Co Operative Shop Main Street Middleton in the 1960s up to the Co Ops in the Wirksworth district being sold . Mr Kneebone then gained employment at Bryan Donkins Ltds Lumsdale Matlock where I also worked in the same period as a Fitter making gas components, regulators and govenors

    Marion Rose Flint nee Walters one of the witnesses was my Aunt, wife of my Uncle William James Flint.. Mr Robertshaw the Methodist Minister lived at The Manse Derby Road just below my home today, The Manse built by my Grandfather's family re Joseph Walker & Sons as was Wirksworth Baptist Church as was Middleton Mount Zion Methodist Church..an allied member of the Walker family have recently purchased The Manse on it being sold, the Wirksworth Circuit being now part of Matlock Methodist Circuit
