"PEDIGREES" |
by Thomas Norris INCE 1799-1860 |
Here is a transcription of the 484 pages of this Manuscript Book,
made from a microfilm copy supplied by Derby Local Studies Library.
In most cases abbreviations have been expanded without
comment to avoid confusion.
A new page numbering system is used based on the microfilm frame order.
Ince's original page numbers and the DLSL photocopy reference are given
in red brackets.
The original pages are held at DLSL, are separated,
and unfortunately do not possess a coherent numbering system.
These pages were transcribed by John Palmer, Kathryn Farrell
and Sonia Addis-Smith
between Oct 1999 and Feb 2000.
Proof-read by Sonia and John,
edited and compiled by John.

Pedigree of the family of CHADWICK formerly of Crich and Bonsall,
drawn up by Rickards INCE of Wirksworth solicitor anno 1810, from the
relation of Samuel CHADWICK bap 1786. In order to take Mr Councelor
BALGUY's opinion thereon (viz) Whether Samuel was or was not intitled
to his father's share of the personal Estate & effects of Paul
CHADWICK of London, but Mr BALGUY was of opinion that he had no claim
thereto being too distant. As by 22 & 23 Car II Cap 10 Sec. 7 there
was a proviso that there should be no representation among collaterals
beyond brothers and sisters children & consequently that Samuel was
too remote. Opinion dated Duffield Oct 23rd 1810.
Bonsall churchyard notes:
Zachariah CHADWICK = Mary; [dau] Elizabeth obt 11 April 1779 aet 21.
William CHADWICK = Sarah; [dau] Mary obt 10 Dec 1793.

Dear Sir,
I am very much obliged to you
for your letter, and hardly like to
trouble you by asking for the
fragments of MELLOR information that
Mr INCE left behind, if you feel
sure they are not to the purpose.
I am disappointed that one of them
does not turn out to be connected with

that might have cleared up some of

of this kind, disappointments are
to be many.
I am sorry you were at the trouble
to return the sheet I enclosed. I
drew it up on purpose to send you,
thinking you might perhaps care
to keep it, but fear I neglected to
say so in my letter.
Again thanking you, believe
me dear Sir,
Yours truly

Dear Sir,
I am very much obliged to
you for the two scraps of MELLOR
pedigree, which I am very glad
to have. The Richard MELLOR of
Wirksworth might easily have been
a puzzle to account for.
With regard to the earlier one, I have
a note that Robert MELLOR of Alsop in the
Dale Gent. died intestate, and that
(on the Renunciation of Lydia, his relict)
John MELLOR of Stainsburrow in the parish
of Wirksworth Gent was granted Letters of
Administration, Lichfield Court, 19 Oct 1716.
