"PEDIGREES" |
by Thomas Norris INCE 1799-1860 |
Here is a transcription of the 484 pages of this Manuscript Book,
made from a microfilm copy supplied by Derby Local Studies Library.
In most cases abbreviations have been expanded without
comment to avoid confusion.
A new page numbering system is used based on the microfilm frame order.
Ince's original page numbers and the DLSL photocopy reference are given
in red brackets.
The original pages are held at DLSL, are separated,
and unfortunately do not possess a coherent numbering system.
These pages were transcribed by John Palmer, Kathryn Farrell
and Sonia Addis-Smith
between Oct 1999 and Feb 2000.
Proof-read by Sonia and John,
edited and compiled by John.
Contact about uncertain words,
and I will recheck microfilm of the original.

[Ann Andrews says:
The two pedigrees 064c and 064d deal with the same family of CLAY,
they are together in Ince's book and have the same page number, which is 199.
On neither is written a contemporary date, source nor reason for duplication.
064d was written first, by an as yet unidentified hand. 064c was written by
Ince and was fixed on top of 064d, attached at the top left-hand corner. This
is visible on the film and has been confirmed to us by the librarian at Derby LSL.
John Palmer says:
In my opinion, 064d was written first by a junior in Ince's office.
Mistakes were made which were corrected by Ince himself in 064c. Ince's
corrections were written as a "fly" sheet originally attached over 064d, but
the fly later became detached and now has the identification 064c.]
