DURDLE DOOR
I've snorkeled all round here, Dorset has huge beaches,
one of them can only be reached by swimming through a
natural archway in a headland.
GOLD HILL
This is Shaftesbury, an old Saxon hill-top town.
There's great walking round here.
LULWORTH COVE
Near here is a Fossil Forest, and steep hills look down on
this circular cove, making for spectacular walking.
CORFE CASTLE
Cromwell only captured the impregnable Castle when it was given away
by treachery. The remains inspired Marie Lloyd's song
"I'm one of the ruins that Cromwell knocked about a bit..."

TRANSPORTED for LIFE
This sign is fixed to many bridges in Dorset. The law was passed in 1827
(but rumour has it has now been repealed!). The space after "Dorset" is
where a placename was erased when England feared invasion in 1940.
