WIRKSWORTH Parish Records 1600-1900

"An Account of the Live Stock, Implements of Husbandry &
Household Furniture sold by Auction, the property of
the late John Heayes of Hopton deceased. 10 May 1824"

This book lists each lot and the price it achieved. Most lots include the
name of the purchaser
The paperback measures 175mm by 110mm with 56 hand written pages.
Livestock including cows, calves, a bull, horses, sheep and pigs were
sold on the first day
On the second day tools, farm
implements, cart, harness, hay, timber, pig troughs etc were sold
And on the 3rd day furniture and household effects.

It seems likely that John Heayes' Farm (1824), described
below, is the same place as Hayes Farms 1841-1992
(which were flooded under the new Carsington Water reservoir in 1992)

Derbyshire Records Office holds a record D258-20-30-8-01
dated 1793. This has been transcribed by the author and
appears to be related to the Upper and Nether Hays Farms
which were submerged beneath the new Carsington Water reservoir
described above. The Field names mentioned should confirm this
when a listing of names in the GELL estate Tithe map is examined.
John HEAYES appears to have died in 1824, when his Livestock,
Implements and Furniture (400 items) were auctioned, see
Farm Auction 1824.
